Are You Naked?

Genesis 3:1-10

Message No. 0627 | Twitter @GodandUs | www.wisdom-speaks.ca

Yesterday my wife and I stumbled on a YouTube recording of the highspeed chase of a carjacker who was speeding away with a vehicle he had stolen. As he was speeding, and no matter how much he sped, he was being followed by a helicopter crew of a news station. We saw him deliberately crash slightly into the side of a vehicle ahead of him, then he blocked the vehicle, came out of his, dragged out the couple in the other car, took it and ran with it, abandoning the owners and the first vehicle he was running away with. He sped on highway after highway, including occasionally entering lean-populated towns, sometimes driving one-way against oncoming traffic, then he highjacked a third car and kept speeding off.

This chase continued for almost one hour and as the driver was doing this, one question my wife and I were asking was, why? With a helicopter ahead, it was practically impossible for the guy to hide. The guy in the sky sees everything that goes on below. One thing that was clear to us and should have been clear to the runaway guy was, the guys in the sky would never give up until he was captured. They were providing all information needed to apprehend him to the police and in some of the places he passed, the police were actually waiting and attempted to throw nail woods in front of his tires, but they missed him twice. In the end, the thieve or robber, reckless driver endangering other road users, disobedient of traffic laws and causing damage to several vehicles on the road guy was arrested. He would most probably spend a long time period in prison.

As we were watching this video, my mind went straight to Adam and Eve, who after committing sin saw that they were naked, sewed fig tree leaves together to make coverings for themselves and when they heard the sound of God walking in the garden, they went and hid themselves. The same question would come to mind as did the carjacker, why? Why would anyone attempt to hide from God who not only made the heavens and the earth but is up there looking at everything happening on earth, all at the same time? Why did Cain answer God “I don’t know” when God asked him “where is your brother Abel” after Cain killed his brother? Why did he think that God did not see him?

Why does anyone on our planet today think that God does not see them? Why do we think that the sins we commit are unknown to God? Why do we think that God does not know where we are or what we do? Why do we think that the God who is up there does not know what is going on here? Not only did the world discover how to chase carjackers with helicopters decades ago, we have also in recent years discovered how to pursue petty thieves who snatch costly mobile phones, handbags, wallets and other precious items from unsuspecting people, with small, cheap drones. I watched one also on YouTube many months ago. No matter how the thieve meandered within a densely populated slum, he was apprehended, all because the guy in the sky sees everything that is happening below.

In Psalm 94:9-11, the Bible says:

He that planted the ear, shall he not hear? He that formed the eye, shall he not see? He that chastiseth the heathen, shall not he correct? He that teacheth man knowledge, shall not he know? The Lord knoweth the thoughts of man, that they are vanity.

Look, God knows everything you are thinking, even before acting on it. You are completely naked before Him. The leaves of the fig tree did not prevent God from seeing the totality of Adam and Eve. We may not see our own bodies or the bodies of others after putting on clothes, but God sees everything. We may not know what our friends and neighbors are thinking, but God knows it all. We may not be able to see the next few meters ahead of us in the dark, but God sees everything as though it’s daylight.

In Romans 6:23, the Bible says:

For the wages of sin is death, but the gift of God is eternal life in Christ Jesus our Lord.

The only way to escape the judgment of God is to surrender to Him. We surrender by confessing our sins to Him (He already knows them, but we still need to confess) and say we are sorry and ask Him to take control of our lives. The only person that is able to hide from God has not been born yet. You can’t. Please help yourself by yielding to this call. The alternative is unimaginable eternal pain. This will not be your portion, in Jesus’ name. Amen.

 PLEASE ACT NOW:
If you are yet to give your life to Christ, you do not have a covenant with God and His promises do not apply to you. To come under these promises, please surrender your life to Christ today, by praying this prayer:
Lord I know that I am a sinner and I am unable to save myself. I am sorry for my sins and I pray that you please forgive me. I am aware that Your Son Jesus died for my sins and I accept Him as my Lord and savior. I surrender my life unto you from this moment. Please take control of my entire being and help me to be obedient to your Word, going forward. Thank you, Lord, for hearing me. I have prayed in Jesus’ name. Amen.
If you prayed the foregoing prayer, you have just been born again. Please find a Bible believing church in your area and ask to see the pastor. Let him or her know that you have just given your life to Christ and s/he will guide you on next steps in your journey as a child of God. The Lord bless you!
