The ability to keep one’s own words is an excellent sign of integrity, albeit this is very scarce. People promise, and people break the promises. Some people are even known for never keeping their words. If they tell you that they give you their words, you better don’t believe them. Some people lie, and some overcommit but don’t see anything wrong in not living up to their vows. The fallibility of every human being is not in question, but to what degree can we be trusted.

In contrast to humans, we have a God who has never lied and has never not lived to His promises. Why would he renege on what He promised? The Bible says He who promised is also able to perform the promise, so why would He fail to keep His Words when He has the ability to. In Hebrews chapter 6 verse 18, the Bible says it is impossible for God to lie. Impossible means that even if He wanted to, yet He can’t. This is how perfect our God is. When God speaks, He leaves no one in doubt that He means what He says. In Psalm 89 verses 34 and 35, the Bible says:

My covenant I will not break, nor alter the word that has gone out of My lips. Once I have sworn by My holiness; I will not lie to David:

God is not making a suggestion here, He is saying without any equivocation, that He is not about to not keep His promises. Man may speak in one minute, and in another, say I am sorry, that’s not what I meant. In the case of our God, He is saying He will not alter the Word that has gone out of His lips. His mouth does not run faster than His brain. When God promises, you can take His Words to the bank and obtain a certificate of deposit. In Numbers 23 verse 19, the Bible says:

"God is not a man, that He should lie, nor a son of man, that He should repent. Has He said, and will He not do? Or has He spoken, and will He not make it good?

The beautiful thing is that God’s faithfulness does not depend on our own faithfulness. God is too pure to depend on us for anything. In 2 Timothy 2:13, His Word says:

If we are faithless, He remains faithful; He cannot deny Himself.

In any situation in life, it is foolish to doubt God. If you don’t believe Him, then tell me who you believe. It’s the same question that Joshua posed to the Israelites when they were entering the Promised Land. In Joshua chapter 24 verse 15, Joshua presented the options to Israel:

And if it seems evil to you to serve the LORD, choose for yourselves this day whom you will serve, whether the gods which your fathers served that were on the other side of the River, or the gods of the Amorites, in whose land you dwell. But as for me and my house, we will serve the LORD."

The best way to be disappointed is to put your trust in man. The arm of the flesh will fail you, guaranteed. If you don’t want to miss it, if your goal is important to you, if your destiny is key, and if you want to be sure of where you are going, you have only one sure option. In Deuteronomy 33:27, the Bible says the eternal God is your refuse, and underneath are the everlasting arms. God is the only Covenant Keeper. Check His Words and find what He has promised you and wait for it.

PLEASE ACT NOW:

If you are yet to give your life to Christ, you do not have a covenant with God and His promises do not apply to you. To come under these promises, please surrender your life to Christ today, by praying this prayer:

Lord I know that I am a sinner and I am unable to save myself. I am sorry for my sins and I pray that you please forgive me. I am aware that Your Son Jesus died for my sins and I accept Him as my Lord and savior. I surrender my life unto you from this moment. Please take control of my entire being and help me to be obedient to your Word, going forward. Thank you, Lord, for hearing me. I have prayed in Jesus’ name. Amen.

If you prayed the foregoing prayer, you have just been born again. Please find a Bible believing church in your area and ask to see the pastor. Let him or her know that you have just given your life to Christ and s/he will guide you on next steps in your journey as a child of God. The Lord bless you!
