Genesis 1:1-31

Many of us are old enough to have witnessed the performance of magicians, both physically and on television sets. They wow viewers with their actions, bringing objects out from nowhere and making others disappear with a wave of the hand. Many people have heard of the term ‘magic wand.’ This is nothing but the rod popularly seen with magicians for conjuring some of the tricks that we see them display in their performances.
I think we can all agree that the truth about magic is that it is fake and does not last. We see things appear and disappear and none of them stays or lasts. In Exodus 7:10-12, Moses and Aaron visited Pharaoh to deliver God’s message to let His people go. To convince Pharaoh that they were not joking, Aaron threw down his staff and it became a snake. To proof that he was powerful also, Pharaoh called in his magicians, who threw down their own staff and they also became snakes. The Bible says that Aaron’s snake swallowed the magician’s snakes. The devil cannot fake God’s creation.
One unique capability of the Almighty God is the ability to create things out of nothing. In Genesis chapter 1 verses 1-3, the Bible says:
In the beginning God created the heavens and the earth. Now the earth was formless and empty, darkness was over the surface of the deep, and the Spirit of God was hovering over the waters. And God said, “Let there be light,” and there was light.
How amazing it is to think that there was no earth, the planet we have known all of our lives, until the supreme Being created it. And He did not have to hire a host of workers before accomplishing this monumentally giant project. All He needed to do was speak. In His Words, He commanded the heavens to be and the earth He spoke into existence. ‘Let there be’ was all He needed to say, and the miracle we witness daily came forth.
When you think deeply about the series of things God created just by speaking, you must come to the conclusion that the Bible reached in Luke 1:37 – For with God, nothing shall be impossible. This statement was repeated in a comparative manner in Matthew 19:26. The Bible says:
Jesus looked at them and said, “With man this is impossible, but with God all things are possible.
If all things are possible with God and if we are God’s children, then we must never lose hope in whatever situation we find ourselves. If God needs to fly into a situation with a helicopter before a miracle is performed, we may conclude that we can’t make it, because there are billions of people waiting for a miracle on a daily basis and it will take centuries before He reaches us. Thankfully, our God is not limited by space or time. Because He is omnipresent, we do not need to wait for 38 years like the man at the Pool of Bethesda. The Holy Spirit actually does live in us who have given our lives to Christ.
What do all these mean for us? That we need to believe that our miracles can happen, just as we believe in mathematics. If we add 1 to 3, we know that the result will always be 4, because this has been proven over and over again. So, why can’t we believe that the God we have seen perform His Words over and over again will do what He promised us? Many of us ask God for something and then behind the scenes, we ask ourselves, this is so difficult, how will God even do it? Well, how could we not believe that the God who created this earth out of nothing is able to create those infinitesimally small things we ask for?
When you ask God for something, just keep reminding Him that He made this earth out of nothing and your own case is nothing in comparison, then wait without wavering. When asking God for a miracle, I am usually reminded of Ephesians chapter 3 verses 20 and 21:
Now to Him who is able to do exceedingly abundantly above all that we ask or think, according to the power that works in us, to Him be glory in the church by Christ Jesus to all generations, forever and ever. Amen.
There are no stronger words to describe the power of our God. Wait for Him, your miracle is on its way.

PLEASE ACT NOW:
If you are yet to give your life to Christ, you do not have a covenant with God and His promises do not apply to you. To come under these promises, please surrender your life to Christ today, by praying this prayer:
Lord I know that I am a sinner and I am unable to save myself. I am sorry for my sins and I pray that you please forgive me. I am aware that Your Son Jesus died for my sins and I accept Him as my Lord and savior. I surrender my life unto you from this moment. Please take control of my entire being and help me to be obedient to your Word, going forward. Thank you, Lord, for hearing me. I have prayed in Jesus’ name. Amen.
If you prayed the foregoing prayer, you have just been born again. Please find a Bible believing church in your area and ask to see the pastor. Let him or her know that you have just given your life to Christ and s/he will guide you on next steps in your journey as a child of God. The Lord bless you!
