There is no wondering why humans and other beings are able to breathe, live and survive on this planet that we call earth. Very clearly, something is responsible for sustenance in the place we all call home. The Bible says in Acts chapter 17 verse 28, that “In Him we live, and move, and have our being.” Life is not accidental, but designed, and given. Who then, is the giver of life?
In John chapter 5, verses 21 – 24, Jesus switched to Teacher mode after healing the man at the Pool of Bethesda. As usual, His authority was challenged, just because He gave life to someone who was alive, but dead. The man had an infirmity, 38 years in the making, and had zero hope of living, until he encountered the Give of Life.
For as the Father raises the dead and gives life to them, even so the Son gives life to whom He will. For the Father judges no one, but has committed all judgment to the Son, that all should honor the Son just as they honor the Father. He who does not honor the Son does not honor the Father who sent Him. "Most assuredly, I say to you, he who hears My word and believes in Him who sent Me has everlasting life, and shall not come into judgment, but has passed from death into life.
In this scripture, we see two different kinds of life – physical life and eternal life. In verse 21, “For as the Father raises the dead and gives life to them, even so the Son gives life to whom He will.” The Bible says in Genesis chapter 2 verse 7:
And the LORD God formed man of the dust of the ground and breathed into his nostrils the breath of life; and man became a living being.
Without the Breath of God, man was basically an image carved from the dust of the ground. God gave physical life to man by breathing into its nostrils. Outside of God’s scientific ordination, no one has yet succeeded in creating a living thing. Only God can give physical life to anything or anyone.
There’s also eternal life. In the scripture above, the Bible says “Most assuredly, I say to you, he who hears My word and believes in Him who sent Me has everlasting life, and shall not come into judgment, but has passed from death into life.” In John chapter 10 verse 10, Jesus told His audience:
The thief does not come except to steal, and to kill, and to destroy. I have come that they may have life, and that they may have it more abundantly.
Unlike physical life where you can see if someone is alive, eternal life is a bit different. You cannot determine if someone is alive by looking at the face. There are indicators that would show, but even these could be faked. The Bible says in 2 Timothy 2:19:
Nevertheless, the solid foundation of God stands, having this seal: "The Lord knows those who are His," and "Let everyone who names the name of Christ depart from iniquity."
Only God can give eternal life. If your life does not show your efforts, if you are struggling to live a worthy life, if you cannot overcome sin, but are constantly ensnared by the enemy, you have no choice than to run to the giver of eternal life. The Bible says in Matthew 11:28, “Come unto me all you who labor and are heavy laden, and I will give you rest. Do you want rest for your soul? Today is the day of salvation. Run today, to the only Giver of Life. He is waiting to help you.
PLEASE ACT NOW:
If you are yet to give your life to Christ, you do not have a covenant with God and His promises do not apply to you. To come under these promises, please surrender your life to Christ today, by praying this prayer:
Lord I know that I am a sinner and I am unable to save myself. I am sorry for my sins and I pray that you please forgive me. I am aware that Your Son Jesus died for my sins and I accept Him as my Lord and savior. I surrender my life unto you from this moment. Please take control of my entire being and help me to be obedient to your Word, going forward. Thank you, Lord, for hearing me. I have prayed in Jesus’ name. Amen.
If you prayed the foregoing prayer, you have just been born again. Please find a Bible believing church in your area and ask to see the pastor. Let him or her know that you have just given your life to Christ and s/he will guide you on next steps in your journey as a child of God. The Lord bless you!
