The God of Healing

Exodus 15:22-26

Message No. 0599 | Twitter @GodandUs | www.wisdom-speaks.ca

And the Lord God caused a deep sleep to fall on Adam, and he slept; and He took one of his ribs, and closed up the flesh in its place

Anesthesia is commonplace in our hospitals today, but it was God who first introduced it by causing Adam to sleep a deep sleep (sedation, unconsciousness) and during that sleep God performed the first surgery by removing one rib to form the woman. Today, doctors anesthetize patients before undergoing medical procedures that cause pain and discomfort. When modern medicine talks of anatomy, we need to ask, how did the internal parts, features and workings of the body come to being? Who formed the body? Was it not God? The Bible says even the hairs of our heads are numbered by Him.

When motor vehicles need repairs, the owners would take them to mechanics, but there are mechanics and there are vehicle manufacturers. Who is better placed to quickly identify and fix the problem with a vehicle? Would this not be the auto manufacturer who knows the foundation and complete design of the vehicle? When you buy an electronic device, you would see in the maintenance section of the user’s manual that you are to only use authorized service providers to fix any problem that may occur on the device. Authorized repairers are people that have been adequately trained by the manufacturer of the device; any unauthorized repairs would void the manufacturer warranty.

The purpose of all the preceding preambles is to remind us that only God, the Manufacturer of our body, knows every detail about our physical being, and He alone can always accurately identify what is wrong and what needs to be done to correct it. Our doctors are service providers, and God bless them for what they do, but Our God is the Manufacturer.

In some hospitals and medical centers, they not only admit patients, they also admit the fact that they (medical practitioners) care, but only God heals. In Exodus 15:26, we see in the Bible:

… “If you diligently heed the voice of the Lord your God and do what is right in His sight, give ear to His commandments and keep all His statutes, I will put none of the diseases on you which I have brought on the Egyptians. For I am the Lord who heals you.”

Our God is not only the God of creation and salvation, He is also the God of healing. And in no where was this so vividly demonstrated as in the Ministry of Jesus Christ. Throughout, He went about healing and making people whole. By touching, speaking and through other means, Jesus was in serious business setting people free from their sicknesses and diseases. The woman with the issue of blood running for 12 years only needed to touch the hem of His garment and the blood flow stopped (Matthew 9:20-22). The Blind Bartimaeus only received “Go, your faith has healed you” from Him and he immediately received his sight and followed Jesus (Mark 10:46-52). And to the ten lepers in Luke 17:11-19, Jesus only told them “Go, show yourselves to the priests” and as they went, they were cleansed.

The God of Healing not only heals human beings, He heals nonliving things also. In Exodus 15:22-26, Moses and the Israelites were in the wilderness and had no water to drink. When they found one, it was bitter – the name of the water was called Marah. God showed Moses a tree and when he cast it into the water, the bitter water was made sweet.

If you are a child of God, you should build your faith on the fact that God is willing and eager to heal you. It does not mean that you should not seek medical attention, there is nothing wrong in doing that. Remember that the medical people learned from God. However, your faith can quicken the process of healing because Jesus only needs to speak a Word and your healing is done. And not only is this relevant to medical matters but to nonmedical also. If you need a touch on your business, remember that Jesus only spoke a sentence to Peter and his colleagues when He saw their frustration after working all-night and catching no fish. The result? Their net was filled with so many fish that it started to break.

If you are yet to surrender your life to Jesus, this is a prerequisite to enjoying His goodness. He is a prayer answering God but the first prayer He wants to answer is the prayer of surrender, by confessing your sins and asking for His forgiveness. Please do this without delay because your soul is far more important to Him than anything else. As you navigate this week, may the God of Healing touch every aspect of your life and deliver the healing that is necessary for you to thrive, in Jesus’ name. Amen.

 PLEASE ACT NOW:
If you are yet to give your life to Christ, you do not have a covenant with God and His promises do not apply to you. To come under these promises, please surrender your life to Christ today, by praying this prayer:
Lord I know that I am a sinner and I am unable to save myself. I am sorry for my sins and I pray that you please forgive me. I am aware that Your Son Jesus died for my sins and I accept Him as my Lord and savior. I surrender my life unto you from this moment. Please take control of my entire being and help me to be obedient to your Word, going forward. Thank you, Lord, for hearing me. I have prayed in Jesus’ name. Amen.
If you prayed the foregoing prayer, you have just been born again. Please find a Bible believing church in your area and ask to see the pastor. Let him or her know that you have just given your life to Christ and s/he will guide you on next steps in your journey as a child of God. The Lord bless you!
