The Lilies of the Valley

Luke 12:27-31

It's amazing how much attention God places on things that we do not value much. In Luke 12:27 – 31, the Bible says:

Consider how the wild flowers grow. They do not labor or spin. Yet I tell you, not even Solomon in all his splendor was dressed like one of these. If that is how God clothes the grass of the field, which is here today, and tomorrow is thrown into the fire, how much more will he clothe you—you of little faith! And do not set your heart on what you will eat or drink; do not worry about it. For the pagan world runs after all such things, and your Father knows that you need them. But seek his kingdom, and these things will be given to you as well.

The lilies of the valley are associated with beauty, purity, chastity and sweetness. But, does anyone pay much attention to anything from the bush? Don’t we trample these things under our feet? Amazingly, God spends time to beautify these seemingly insignificant things. The question is, if God places such attention on these, how much more does He us, His children.

In Luke 12:7, Jesus told His disciples:

Indeed, the very hairs of your head are all numbered. Don’t be afraid; you are worth more than many sparrows.

As educated as some people are, no one has been able to tell me how many hairs are on my head, but the Bible says that God knows them all. This extreme level of care and attention can only be provided by God. Now, if God pays such attention to us, it must mean that He knows us inside out. He knows our thoughts, our needs and wants and our desires. He knows us more than we do ourselves.

God created man and put him in a garden that He already dressed and loaded with man’s needs. But, it’s possible that we create our own needs or that we feel that we need things that we really do not need. This is similar to what Adam and Eve did when God showed them what they needed in the garden and also showed them what they did not need. The couple decided that what they needed was the very thing God said they did not need. This conflict of wants and needs is sometimes the reason why there’s a gap between what God wants for us and what we want for ourselves.

Just as the vehicle manufacturer knows the vehicle more than the user, our God knows us more than we know ourselves, and Friends, if only we could surrender to our Maker and follow His leads and instructions, we would discover that our lives could be easier.

God beautifies the lilies and feeds the sparrows and other birds of the air. Just compare yourselves to these and see how much more you are worth to God. He tells us to knock so the door is opened, to seek so we can find. These statements might sound easier than what we currently experience but God is able to turn things around if we can begin to trust Him for our needs. This week as you step out in faith, I pray that God will reward your faith and grant you direction so your actions can turn to breakthrough. It is well with everything you touch, in Jesus’ name. Amen. Have a blessed week!

 PLEASE ACT NOW:
If you are yet to give your life to Christ, you do not have a covenant with God and His promises do not apply to you. To come under these promises, please surrender your life to Christ today, by praying this prayer:
Lord I know that I am a sinner and I am unable to save myself. I am sorry for my sins and I pray that you please forgive me. I am aware that Your Son Jesus died for my sins and I accept Him as my Lord and savior. I surrender my life unto you from this moment. Please take control of my entire being and help me to be obedient to your Word, going forward. Thank you, Lord, for hearing me. I have prayed in Jesus’ name. Amen.
If you prayed the foregoing prayer, you have just been born again. Please find a Bible believing church in your area and ask to see the pastor. Let him or her know that you have just given your life to Christ and s/he will guide you on next steps in your journey as a child of God. The Lord bless you!
