The Only GPS

The Global Positioning System, popularly known as GPS, is no doubt a wonderful innovation. Imagine driving to a completely strange destination and having to ask for road at each turn; you probably won’t go very far before you become frustrated. How about driving a distance of 2,513 kilometers of unknown road and terrain? Well, without a GPS, you’ll be lucky if you can trace your way back home after the first 500. However, as nice as the discovery of the GPS is, many of the ones we are used to today had their own faults and failures, like guiding drivers to enter roads that are one-way, or roads that were closed ahead or not guiding drivers to avoid heavy traffic or, I heard of one that actually told a driver to keep driving, though the driver was already directly facing the ocean. Yeah, all hail human inventions!

Unlike the human-invented GPS, we actually have one GPS that has never failed. It has been used for more than 2000 years, and it has never failed to lead users to the appointed destination. In John 14:6, Jesus told His disciples:

…”I am the way, the truth and the life. No one comes to the Father except through me.”

Now, advertisers of wonderfully made products spend lots of money letting people know how good their products are. Of particular note is the advertisement of pharmaceutical products. If the producers have 60 seconds to advertise it, they spend 15 to tell you how wonderful it is and how it can cure your ailments, then they spend the remaining 45 seconds to tell you why you should not buy it: if you are allergic to this, and to that, and it may cause blood cloth, and headache, and high blood pressure, and fever, and it may even result in death… Why do they use their own mouths to spoil their own market? Because they are not 100 percent sure of their products, and people react to different products in different ways, they may get sued and end up in bankruptcy if they don’t warn people upfront, that their products are not perfect.

In contrast to what earthly advertisers do, Jesus did not mince words in His declaration. He was not suggesting that He is the way. He did not say, well, there could be other ways too, or, in future, other ways could be discovered. He did not speak in past tense, or future tense. He is the way, period. There’s no future in which He could become the old way or referred to as ‘used to be the way.’ He will never cease to be the GPS to God. “No one comes to the Father except through me.” Are you insinuating that our family members and friends of other religions have no way of reaching God? I am not insinuating anything; I am simply quoting the Truth.

In Acts chapter 4 verses 11 and 12, Peter boldly told the rulers of Israel, the ones who could put him in jail or even kill him, that they had missed the road all along:

This is the ‘stone which was rejected by you builders, which has become the chief cornerstone.’ Nor is there salvation in any other, for there is no other name under heaven given among men by which we must be saved.”

You might say, but Jesus Christ was just a man, after all. No, He wasn’t. He was man, but not just a man. He was God also. In John 1:1-3, the Bible says:

In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God. He was in the beginning with God. All things were made through Him, and without Him nothing was made that was made

And in verse 14, we further read:

And the Word became flesh and dwelt among us, and we beheld His glory, the glory as of the only begotten of the Father, full of grace and truth.

Are you still doubting? Look at what the Bible says in Philippians 2:8-11:

And being found in appearance as a man, He humbled Himself and became obedient to the point of death, even the death of the cross. Therefore God also has highly exalted Him and given Him the name which is above every name, that at the name of Jesus every knee should bow, of those in heaven, and of those on earth, and of those under the earth, and that every tongue should confess that Jesus Christ is Lord, to the glory of God the Father.

There is no debate here, and there is no confusion. There is a statement, the truth, without ambiguity. Some are deceived, thinking that when they die, it’s the end of all things for them, so they don’t care what they do here on earth. How wrong. The spiritual determines what we see on earth, and while what we see may be temporal, we will all be transformed out of our temporal bodies one day, facing our Maker on the Judgement Seat. There, our deeds here on earth will be in the open and the only thing that will save us is our acceptance of Jesus as our Lord and Savior here on earth. Do you want to spend your eternity with God? Follow the only GPS. Please do not postpone this decision. All other routes lead to disaster, damnation (John 14:18), eternal suffering and agony (Revelation 2:15, Luke 13:28). You do not wish even your enemy to make this mistake. Please take immediate action today. God bless you.
