Jeremiah 50:31-32

We all know that God hates sin, but some types of sin are particularly mentioned and there is no secret how much God hates them. One of these is what I call the original sin. When people hear of the original sin, it is common to take our minds back to the Garden of Eden, because this was where man first sinned. However, before Eve and Adam sinned, there was the devil who made them to sin. This means that Lucifer already sinned (this was why he was cast out of heaven) before deceiving Eve and Adam. He infected the people God created with his sin of pride. He wanted to be like God and failed, got cast out of heaven, so he replicated the same sin through Eve and Adam, and they got cast out of the garden.
God does not just hate pride, the Bible says He resists the proud, but gives grace to the humble (James 4:6). If your goal is to see God’s red Eyes, pride is probably one of the quickest ways to do it. In Jeremiah chapter 50, verses 31 and 32, the Bible says:
"Behold, I am against you, O most haughty one!" says the Lord GOD of hosts; "For your day has come, The time that I will punish you. The most proud shall stumble and fall, And no one will raise him up; I will kindle a fire in his cities, And it will devour all around him."
Many people have certain occurrences in their pasts that, though they have forgiven the offenders, each time such occurrences come close to them, they trigger some ‘never again’ memories and sharpen their defense mechanisms. God is not a man, but if the devil offended Him twice with pride, it is expected that He will hate the offence with passion.
God wanted to destroy pride, and the best way to do it was the example of Christ. Isn’t it unheard of that the Son of God would be born in a manger? Yet, that’s the location God chose. The One who created and controls the earth could not find the most royal place to be born, but in a manger. What better example of humility could anyone have. And, as though that wasn’t enough, He made our Redeemer to so humble Himself as to allow mere men to arrest Him and spit on Him and make fun of Him and put a crown of thorns on Him and nail Him to the cross. This was the worst way to die; even the Bible says cursed is he who is hung on a tree. Jesus could call a legion of angels to deal with all His arresters, or He could speak just a simple statement and they would all fall or die, or the ground could open up and they would be swallowed, but He chose none of those. How humble!
The reward for humility is so sharply the opposite of the reward for pride. Look at what the Bible says in Philippians chapter 2, verses 5-11:
Let this mind be in you which was also in Christ Jesus, who, being in the form of God, did not consider it robbery to be equal with God, but made Himself of no reputation, taking the form of a bondservant, and coming in the likeness of men. And being found in appearance as a man, He humbled Himself and became obedient to the point of death, even the death of the cross. Therefore God also has highly exalted Him and given Him the name which is above every name, that at the name of Jesus every knee should bow, of those in heaven, and of those on earth, and of those under the earth, and that every tongue should confess that Jesus Christ is Lord, to the glory of God the Father.
Need anyone say more? If you are an arrogant person, of if people say you are proud, if you believe that you are the best person and anyone else around you is a lesser human being, if you think you are some mini god and everyone should worship you, if any slight thing triggers anger in your heart and makes you speak to people anyhow, if the words coming out of your mouth cause pain in others and everyone around you except your cronies hates you, then I have one appeal for you: please search the word pride or arrogance in the Bible and read them all. Have a change of heart and ask God and people around you for forgiveness. What’s the point of swimming in a lie that has its destination in destruction? The fact is that no one is better than anyone else, God created every being for a purpose. You may have greater opportunities than others, but much is also required of you in return. Learn to humble yourself and give all the glory to God. They arrogant king who gave all the glory to himself in the Bible got cast out of his palace and spent seven years in the bush like an animal (Daniel chapter 4). It seriously shouldn’t come to this.

PLEASE ACT NOW:
If you are yet to give your life to Christ, you do not have a covenant with God and His promises do not apply to you. To come under these promises, please surrender your life to Christ today, by praying this prayer:
Lord I know that I am a sinner and I am unable to save myself. I am sorry for my sins and I pray that you please forgive me. I am aware that Your Son Jesus died for my sins and I accept Him as my Lord and savior. I surrender my life unto you from this moment. Please take control of my entire being and help me to be obedient to your Word, going forward. Thank you, Lord, for hearing me. I have prayed in Jesus’ name. Amen.
If you prayed the foregoing prayer, you have just been born again. Please find a Bible believing church in your area and ask to see the pastor. Let him or her know that you have just given your life to Christ and s/he will guide you on next steps in your journey as a child of God. The Lord bless you!
