Genesis 1:1-5

Although there’s controversy over who invented the light bulb, some say it was Thomas Edison, and others argued it was Humphrey Davy, history says it took Thomas Edison (and his team) two years, and more than 3,000 iterations to get it right. The trouble he went through showed that he was a never-give-up person (many people wouldn’t even try a third time, let alone 3,000 times), but it also showed something else: he was an imperfect human being. Or how could someone try something 2,999 times without succeeding! That’s horribly laborious, and shameful. No one in my generation has enough patience for this, let alone my children’s.
Compare what happened when Mr. Edison kept trying to invent the light bulb, to what happened when God invented the light itself. In Genesis chapter 1, verses 1 – 5, the Bible says:
In the beginning God created the heavens and the earth. The earth was without form, and void; and darkness was on the face of the deep. And the Spirit of God was hovering over the face of the waters. Then God said, "Let there be light"; and there was light. And God saw the light, that it was good; and God divided the light from the darkness. God called the light Day, and the darkness He called Night. So the evening and the morning were the first day.
Thomas Edison had a team that he was leading to invent the lightbulb. For God, the Bible did not say that he assembled a team and gave them some months to design how light would look like. God did not have two years and 3,000 iterations to get things done. He had no time for that! How did He create light? The Bible says in verse 3, Then God said, “Let there be light;” And there was light. Period. No daily stand-up meetings. No project management. No design teams. Let there be light, and there was light. If you read the remainder of the chapter, you will see other things that God created, just by speaking His mind.
Just think about all the barriers that the creation of light faced. There was only darkness, thick darkness, and something was needed to clear all that darkness and make the earth visible. How could this have been done in an instant? It couldn’t. It was only possible with God, because the Bible says in Luke 1:37, for with God, nothing shall be impossible.
I do not remember ever doubting my parents in whatever situation or circumstance. When they spoke, I believed they meant and would do what they said. How much more our heavenly Father, who never jokes and never makes empty promises. In Numbers 23:19, the Bible says God is not a man that He should lie, nor the son of man, that He should repent. When God speaks, no man should ever be in doubt as to what He meant. He told Sarah at age 90 that she would have a child. She did. He told Mary, who never knew a man, that she would conceive and give birth to a Child. She did.
Has God spoken to you about something because this is a life-changing experience. If He makes you a promise, you must start expecting it to be fulfilled. With Him, there are no empty words. Are you in a situation that you need changed? Have you checked what God says about it in the Bible? A lot of times we are expecting Him to speak verbally when He already wrote down the answer to what we are expecting. One man of God told the story of a man who came to him and asked him to tell him how his future would be. He asked the man, are you born again, and he said no. Then he said to him, your future will be terrible. The man was shocked and asked, how do you know, you have not even prayed? The man of God responded, I don’t need to pray about this, because the answer is already written. In Isaiah chapter 3 verses 10 – 11, the Bible states clearly:
"Say to the righteous that it shall be well with them, For they shall eat the fruit of their doings. Woe to the wicked! It shall be ill with him, For the reward of his hands shall be given him.
Many times, we are very lazy to find out what God has already said concerning us. We are looking for a prophet to tell us, and this is why some “prophets” make lots of money through such consultancy services. The Word of God is powerful, and we do not read it enough. He has spoken a lot about us, and this is documented. When someone dies and has a Will, debates and controversies are over as soon as the will is read. Why? Because it is written. What is written is not subjective. It is time-wasting to start debating or doubting a Will. Even when you go to court, they will still read out what has been written, and as long as the testator had the power over what he or she wrote, it is done.
Do you have a problem, or are you in need of something? I encourage you to open the Bible and find out what our Father in heaven already said. If the conditions are met as written, nothing can change it, and your prayer should be focused on thanking God rather than wasting time to ask Him. If the conditions are not right and you need God’s mercy, then pray and ask God for mercy. We do not receive answers to our prayers because often we are doing the wrong things. You should be jubilating if God has spoken about your case, because when He speaks, the case is closed; actually.
PLEASE ACT NOW:
If you are yet to give your life to Christ, you do not have a covenant with God and His promises do not apply to you. To come under these promises, please surrender your life to Christ today, by praying this prayer:
Lord I know that I am a sinner and I am unable to save myself. I am sorry for my sins and I pray that you please forgive me. I am aware that Your Son Jesus died for my sins and I accept Him as my Lord and savior. I surrender my life unto you from this moment. Please take control of my entire being and help me to be obedient to your Word, going forward. Thank you, Lord, for hearing me. I have prayed in Jesus’ name. Amen.
If you prayed the foregoing prayer, you have just been born again. Please find a Bible believing church in your area and ask to see the pastor. Let him or her know that you have just given your life to Christ and s/he will guide you on next steps in your journey as a child of God. The Lord bless you!
