Are You in the Secret Place?

Psalm 91:1-2

Message No. 0665 | Twitter @GodandUs | www.wisdom-speaks.ca

Earlier this month, a business plane took off from Tennessee and headed for Long Island in New York, only to make a U-Turn over Long Island (it’s intended destination) and flew straight back, a route that would make it to fly over Washington DC, thereby flying over some of the most restricted air spaces in the world. Immediately, six F-16 (military) fighter jets from three different states (according to news) were deployed to intercept the plane. Reports said that the military aircrafts were authorized to fly at supersonic speeds, which caused a sonic boom that was heard in the entire region, making dogs to bark and people to look up and around as they imagined what was happening.

The fighter jets reached the business plane in minutes, surrounded it, and tried using all means to speak with the pilot but got no response. They looked into the aircraft and saw no apparent movement. However, they made sure that the plane was not a risk as they saw no funny maneuverings nor patterns that would make them take immediate action to enforce the no-flying zone. The plane later crashed into a bush in Virginia. There were no survivors.

It’s probably no use to ask: what was so special about the plane or the airspace in which it was flying that made the military to take such unprecedented actions. Well, Washington DC is the seat of government of the United States and the president of the US lives in the White House. As a Christian, I could not help but notice the 100 percent devotion of the country and its military to the protection of the president, and this made my mind flash back to Psalm 91. In verses 1 and 2, the Bible says:

He who dwells in the secret place of the Most High Shall abide under the shadow of the Almighty. I will say of the Lord, “He is my refuge and my fortress; My God, in Him I will trust.”

If an earthly army, commanded by human beings who are neither omnipresent, omnipotent, nor omniscient can be so devoted to the protection of a president, how much more are the angels of the Almighty God, endowed with all the divine weapons of heaven, devoted to the protection of His children. When I watched the news on this incident, they said that the president had been briefed about what happened, which means he did not need to request the actions of the military or even say a word, because the capable arms of man were ready and sufficient to make him sleep easy. He only needed to be briefed after the fact.

My friends, if the protection offered by man could make the president sleep easy, how much more should the protection offered by our God make us not only to sleep easy but to go about our daily activities without fear. The Bible says if you dwell in the secret place of the Most High God, translated, if you are His child, then you abide under His Shadow, meaning that He has you covered and you are 100 percent in His Sight, because our God is omnipresent. In verses 3, 5 and 11, the Bible says:

Surely He shall deliver you from the snare of the fowler And from the perilous pestilence. You shall not be afraid of the terror by night, Nor of the arrow that flies by day, For He shall give His angels charge over you, To keep you in all your ways.

The question is, since we are God’s children and we have such an array of unlimited promises of protection from the all-powerful God, why are we so afraid? The Bible says He who has promised is also able to fulfil His promises. We are not dealing with guesswork and there is no ‘maybe’ in God’s offerings. His Words are firm and absolute.

To those who do not yet know God, fear is a snare, and the devil wants you to live in it all the days of your life. The Bible says the devil comes only to steal, to kill and to destroy, but Jesus Christ comes to give you life and make you live it abundantly. Wouldn’t you rather cross over to God’s Camp and have rest for your soul? He is far more than able to protect you than any other alternatives the devil’s agents may have presented you with. You can surrender your life to Christ right now, where you are, by saying the following prayers:

Lord I know that I am a sinner and I am unable to save myself. I am sorry for my sins and I pray that you please forgive me. I am aware that Your Son Jesus died for my sins and I accept Him as my Lord and savior. I surrender my life unto you from this moment. Please take control of my entire being and help me to be obedient to your Word, going forward. Thank you, Lord, for hearing me. I have prayed in Jesus’ name. Amen.

 PLEASE ACT NOW:
If you are yet to give your life to Christ, you do not have a covenant with God and His promises do not apply to you. To come under these promises, please surrender your life to Christ today, by praying this prayer:
Lord I know that I am a sinner and I am unable to save myself. I am sorry for my sins and I pray that you please forgive me. I am aware that Your Son Jesus died for my sins and I accept Him as my Lord and savior. I surrender my life unto you from this moment. Please take control of my entire being and help me to be obedient to your Word, going forward. Thank you, Lord, for hearing me. I have prayed in Jesus’ name. Amen.
If you prayed the foregoing prayer, you have just been born again. Please find a Bible believing church in your area and ask to see the pastor. Let him or her know that you have just given your life to Christ and s/he will guide you on next steps in your journey as a child of God. The Lord bless you!
