We have seen what godfathers do. They protect their own, and if they are aware of any negative decisions coming their way, they do everything in their powers to block them. They promote their own faster than others are promoted. They create a system to ensure no harm comes the way of those who call them fathers. In return, the godchildren do everything in their powers to do what their godfathers need, like running errands and on occasions, hinting them on what they are aware of that may negatively affect them, so it’s a two-way loyalty agreement.
If the earthly godfathers are dedicated to protecting their loyalists, how about the real God Father. In Psalm 91:9-11, the Bible says of the protection of the Lord:
Because you have made the LORD, who is my refuge, Even the Most High, your dwelling place, no evil shall befall you, nor shall any plague come near your dwelling; For He shall give His angels charge over you, to keep you in all your ways.
God is basically saying He’s got you covered, because He will block every evil from befalling you or even coming near your house. How amazing. While the people of the world go to any length to protect themselves, including spending their hard-earned money to pay ritualists and other evil priests, God is simply saying you do not have to worry, and you do not have to expend your money on such wasteful and powerless ventures. He’s got you.
In 2 Chronicles chapter 20, when a combined army of three nations came against Judah and Jehoshaphat, God simply told Jehoshaphat, do not worry. In fact, the battle is not yours but God’s. You will not need to fight in this battle. God took the battle over and delivered victory to Judah. Instead of the aggressors flighting against Judah, they turned against one another and destroyed themselves. The only work God’s children needed to do was to collect the spoils. How pleasant!
In Numbers chapter 23, when Balak, a Moabite king, hired Balaam, a prophet, to curse Israel, God told Balaam, no way. You cannot curse my people, because I have not given you permission to do any such thing. In verse 8, Balaam told Balak, how shall I curse whom God has not cursed? And how shall I denounce whom God has not denounced? Good (rhetorical) question, wouldn’t you say? The answer is enclosed in the question: you can’t.
As strong as Balak’s will was to pronounce curses on Israel so he could execute his evil agenda over them, God simply said, no. In verses 20-23, Balaam stated very clearly to Balak:
Behold, I have received a command to bless; He has blessed, and I cannot reverse it. "He has not observed iniquity in Jacob, nor has He seen wickedness in Israel. The LORD his God is with him, And the shout of a King is among them. God brings them out of Egypt; He has strength like a wild ox. "For there is no sorcery against Jacob, Nor any divination against Israel. It now must be said of Jacob and of Israel, 'Oh, what God has done!'
God blocked all of the intentions of the Moabite king. In the same vein, God is saying to you, do not worry. I have not seen iniquity in you, and there is no way that a curse or any evil plan will be allowed to touch you. I have blocked them all. Therefore, do not be afraid, for God has built a wall of defense around you. The enemies may try, but they have already failed. Every Moabite king planning against you shall be disappointed, and every singular or combined army waring against you shall destroy themselves. You will only need to gather the spoils.
What to Do?
Stay calm and see the salvation of the Lord, for the Egyptians fighting against you today shall be seen no more. They Lord shall fight for you, and you shall hold your peace (Exodus 14:13-14).
