Hello readers! The Lord sometimes makes choices that contradict reason, and we may even think that His Hands are not in it. However, the Bible says He chooses the foolish things of this world to shame the wise, and He chooses the weak things to shame the mighty. This week’s writing admonishes us to leave God alone, because He is not known to make mistakes. God bless you as you read.

Text

When Mirian and Aaron spoke against Moses in the wilderness because he had married an Ethiopian woman, the anger of the Lord was kindled. Mirian was a prophetess, and she probably thought that she could connect with God at the same level as her brother. Though the details of their dissension were not completely shared, it’s not difficult to see some level of jealousy as both Mirian and Aaron must have thought that Moses was lording things over them when, after all, they were siblings and there should be mutual respect among them and one sibling should not always have his ways. Well, as seen in Numbers chapter 12 verses 10-15, they were taught a lesson that should last them a lifetime, as God did not take it likely with them.

Fighting against God’s choices is not an admirable profession, and not learning from the mistakes of others is probably one of the worst attitudes to progress. In the case of Korah and his connivers against Moses and Aaron, this attitude proved fatal. In Numbers chapter 16, the Bible says that Korah connived with Dathan, Abiram, On, and 250 leaders and representatives of the congregation of Israel, men of renown, to challenge Moses and Aaron, accusing them of taking too much upon themselves whereas, according to them, the congregation was holy, and it was not okay for the duo to exalt themselves above the assembly of the Lord. They had failed to learn from the experience of Mirian and Aaron, and the consequence was one of a kind, as the ground opened and swallowed them, while the Fire of the Lord consumed the 250 men.

It is God’s prerogative to do what He chooses, and who is man to challenge Him! In Isaiah chapter 45 verse 9, the Bible says:

"Woe to him who strives with his Maker! Let the potsherd strive with the potsherds of the earth! Shall the clay say to him who forms it, 'What are you making?' Or shall your handiwork say, 'He has no hands'?

God can do what He wants, and He owes no one no explanation. In Romans 9:15, the Bible says:

For He says to Moses, "I will have mercy on whomever I will have mercy, and I will have compassion on whomever I will have compassion."

God can decide to choose a child to do the work of an elder. He chose small boy David to replace giant man Saul, and He chose ordinary fishermen to be the faces and leaders of the early church. He chose a serial murderer, turned him to a saint and used him to write half of the books of the New Testament. Where men are looking for qualification, God is looking for sanctification. His ways are not your ways. Quit questioning His choices; they are final. He is sovereign, and who are you?

What to Do?

God is patient, but sometimes the fastest way to destruction is to question His decisions, especially when your questions are motivated by selfish reasons. Leave Him alone, because He knows what He is doing.
