Hello readers and thank God for making us to see another week! In Psalm 102, we see a frantic prayer of deliverance from affliction. Most people are not under the same conditions today, thank God, but there are some who cannot say the same, as they are undergoing conditions that are less than pleasant. This week’s message encourages us all to never give up, because the set time for freedom is here. God bless you as you read!

Kindly share this message with friends and family by forwarding to them the email or the link to the blog. We write every week. Text

Psalm 102 is interpreted as a prayer of the afflicted. Some thought it may have been written by David when his son Absalom was after his life, but the text does not seem to support this. Others felt it could have been written when Israel was in Babylonian captivity, by Daniel or even by Nehemiah. In whichever case, what we see clearly in the text is that the nation of Israel (Zion) must have been in some sort of trouble and needed deliverance by their Maker.

In our world today, it is not hard to see individuals or groups of people who are living under severe affliction. Some Christians live in countries where they are unable to worship freely, and some have to meet in secret places to pray to our God. In some countries, Christians are openly persecuted, incarcerated, and killed, all for the name of the Lord. These are conditions that look similar to what Psalm 102 portrays.

Amid all the afflictions, the writer never forgets that there is a God who can intervene and set the nation free. He never forgets that God cares and is interested in the deliverance of His people. The writer submits that God is supreme, has all powers, and does what He chooses to do. He is confident that God will set His people free, and that the time has come to do so. In verse 13, the writer declares:

You will arise and have mercy on Zion; For the time to favor her, Yes, the set time, has come.

You may be reading this today and can relate to the message of the text. You may be going through similar afflictions, and the reasons may have been comparable to those that put Israel under Babylonian captivity. You may not be physically a captive, but you may be a spiritual captive. Irrespective of the circumstances, I’ll like to inform you that God is able and willing to deliver. He may be waiting for you to come to Him with a cry of mercy, and doing so could trigger your deliverance.

It is also good to know that not all who are under affliction have offended God in any way. Remember that Job committed no offence, yet the devil afflicted him. In God’s deliverance and restoration, Job’s latter days were far greater than the former. God is not unable to see the situations His children are in, and though we feel that He is silent, no, He is not. The set time for deliverance did not come until now, but here it is.

Some children of God may be living under one ailment or sickness or another, and the doctors may have even written them off or given up on their treatments. Cases may be related to cancer, diabetes, high blood pressure or other types. Some may be praying, Lord, You are able to do all things, please set me free. The woman with the issue of blood was under the same conditions for twelve years and had spent all her money on doctors and treatments but there was no apparent relief. The day her set time arrived, she was instantly made whole.

Child of God, please don’t give up. Keep praying and believing God that He is able to do what He promised (Ephesians 3:20). The nation of Israel was delivered from Babylon and despite being surrounded by enemies, it is one of the most powerful nations on earth today. Your deliverance is coming, and now is the set time for God to arise and have mercy on you.

What to Do?

Keep praying, keep trusting God, and keep thanking Him for your deliverance. He is not a man that He should lie.
